Promotion Video's for other Festivals

Here are some promotion video's for Festivals after promotion :

I quite like this style of video, where they have a bit of footage, along with some stills, a bit of stop motion etc. It has a variety of techniques in it, and is quite successful, but if i was to do something simular, i am not sure if i would have a voice over.

This is another effective promotion video, made up of all stills captured from the reading festival.

This is a promotion video time lapse created for Latitude festival. I really like the use of time lapses, and am thinking that i would like to use this technique in my promo video (possibly in the local lama farm).

Here is some pre promotion video's.

This is a pre promotion video for the Latitude festival, as is done in the style of animation.

This is a pre promo video for Glastonbury, and i like the way they demostate the enviroment of the festival in completely different enviornments. I think this works well, and is very effective!

3G Connection Maps

Today i researched the availability of 3G connectivity  within the Glynde Area. It helps as i know where the area is. as it is a common road i use to go through with my friends on our motorcycles.

 3 Mobile Network

3 mobile network cover most of the area and appears to have fairly 'ok' signal in Glynde, but is not at its strongest, as it is not a deep purple colour.

Vodafone Network

Vodafone is fairly strong but had a few patches in the area which tend to be week in signal.

Orange Network

Orange network coverage seems to be strong in the Glynde area, and seems to be very consistent.

T-Mobile Network

T-Mobile's coverage seems to be very strong as well, but as you can see there are a few white patches within the middle of Glynde, where it is a week signal.

Social Networking

Yesterday i looked at the Twitter and Facebook pages created for Meadowlands, for audiences to track, get information and see the bands etc...
 Twitter:

Facebook:

There are some youtube clips on both pages, links to bands that will be playing in the festival, there are photo's of last years entry and some posts from Mark Ede, himself. However, i think the sites would benefit more, if they interacted with the people who are fans of the site, and give them a bit more information, and would probably seem a bit more interesting if they included some sort of live video, rather than edited music.

On Glastonbury Feastival's Facebook and Youtube Channels, they include:

  • Videos of behind the scenes
  • Photographs from behind the scenes
  • Photographs of previous festivals being set up
  • Band information
  • Charities
  • Band photographs
  • Band interviews
  • Competitions
  • Interaction with fans
  • Polls
  • Interview with fans
  • Ticket sales and deals info
Glastonbury has an attractive facebook & youtube page. They post videos of behind the scenes, interviews with bands and fans, people who commentate the event.  Meadowlands should make a youtube page to make people aware of the event, and get some publicity. I think that Meadowlands would definitely benefit from having their own Youtube channel.

    Preperation for Pitch

These are a list of things i can prepare for, for my pitch, the second week back on a monday morning after half term, with lots of research...

    • Band promotion
    • Music promotion
    • Optimizing web content for mobile
    •  Mobile & 3G coverage
    • Current festivals ideas
    • Festival images
    • Storyboarding/animatics
    • Copy write and public filming laws
    • Legal content and permissions for shooting on premises
    • Transportation and organising

    New Live Brief- Meadowlands Feastival

We have been set a new Live brief. Last Thursday the client came into our class to speak to us about the project. Mark Ede is the organiser of the festival and wants us to think of a campaign that will help attract an audience to the festival. He wants us to help promote Meadowlands.

"A music festival on the 27th-29th May, currently it's second year running and is a very small feastival. He wants to attract a younger target audience to it and will be held in the little village Glynde roughly 15 minutes drive from where i live.

In class we was asked to come up with some ideas to help with the campaign:

Online competitions - win tickets. Band competitions - meet band
    Music videos
    Facebook page
    Youtube advert/Twitter advert
    Posters
    Clothing
    Animations, motion graphics
    Videos - interviews with band
    Videos - behind the scenes
    Blogs - about the preperation
    Blogs sponsored by Meadowlands
    Flyers, Leaflets
    Billboards
    Online banners
    Sticker campaign
    TV Advert
    Badges, Coasters
Local media - Advertisements in paper/leaflets

After talking about the brief, we decided to stay away with T-shirts, coasters, badges because the simple fact that they will cost. We also decided not to go along with the idea of posters/flyers because Meadowfields currently already use them.
We decided to do something Digitally-

A website optimized for smartphones which includes updates on the festival lineups, stages, ticket prices, travel information, music previews, reviews, times, locations and have something to let people upload their own photos and videos.

Each person, in this assignment; will make a promotion video each and create a page that will contribute to the website.

We also talked about creating an app for smartphones that will cover the majority of stuff that the website contains.

My first initial thought about this project is that it can be quite fun to do, but becasue it is a live brief, i will have to make sure my time management is up to scratch and make sure all my deadlines are met and that i dont fall behind. It is also going to be quite enjoyable becasue the fact of it being related to music festival, i like this as i go to festivals myself, so i can relate to the subject.

Lastly, here is the festivals logo-
