After Feedback- Final Brief

I have decided to go for my idea on the Open University site, however after ideas from my lecturers and class mates, i have come up with a new idea, to make it more interesting and appeal more to the target audience.

Instead of interviewing people, i will be presenting the documentary as it was an interaction between the the interviewer (me) and interviewer, through social networking sites. This way this will attract more of the target audience, in comparison to, just simply interviewing people.

Organsing and Planning

Yesterday, i thought to myself, what is the best way to collaborate a group of people to interview, and find out who has used, who is thinking about and who is currently using the Open University. At first i used the traditional telephone and emails. Then i thought to myself, one huge aspect of people's everyday lives is Facebook. (Social Networking site). So all i did to get my message out to people, was publish a post, what people will read, asking them a simple question, which covers the questions i just listed above. Here is a screen shot of it, showing you, that i am trying to get on top of myself, and ahead of schedule.

As you can see, i have gathered a few interviewee's from this post already, which is great!

I have got one of my friends brothers to interview and my friends girlfriend, from this post.

Via email i have got my uncle to participate in my documentary-
Over the phone, and by text messaging i have gathered a few friends of friends and a friends house lodger to all particupate in my interviews...

A little on the companies

Sega

Sega was founded in 1951 by David Rosen, an American living in Japan. Originally named Rosen Enterprises, the company focused on art export before moving into the distribution of coin-op machines and photo booths. In 1965, Rosen Enterprises merged with a jukebox manufacturer and changed its name to Service Games -- or short: SEGA. Over the years, Sega, which was eventually bought by Japanese investors, developed games for the early home consoles as well as arcades, and in 1986 entered the console business with the Sega Master System. As a direct competitor to Nintendo, Sega and the Big "N" battled it out with subsequent gaming machines, including Sega's successful Genesis (Mega Drive) and the handheld Game Gear. But Nintendo's head-start in console gaming, a string of unsuccessful add-ons (Sega CD, 32X) and a lack of focus caused Sega to lose market share in the post Genesis days. The next console, the Sega Saturn suffered a fate similar to the original Master System, in that it went up against an extremely powerful competitor -- this time Sony's PlayStation. After an attempt to revitalize the console publishing business with the release of the Sega Dreamcast in 1998, Sega called it quits in 2001 and shifted to become a platform-agnostic publisher.

Sega of America is the American arm of Tokyo, Japan-based Sega Corporation, responsible for the development, marketing and distribution of Sega videogame systems and videogames in the Americas.
Sega Corporation is a major player in interactive digital entertainment media, offering interactive entertainment experiences both inside and outside the home.

The corporation merged with Sammy in 2004. SEGA continues to operate under its original business name following the merger.

Sega


Visual Research- into my 2 chosen briefs

The Open University- Documentary/Short films: 

Here i have been looking at some university campaigns via youtube. The first campaign i saw, is actually produced for the open university.



This is a real good campaign and very effect.



This campaign is good, as they interview people who are at work, and they state how they benefited from their open uni courses. In my film/campaign, i would prefer to have the camera on the interviewee's at work, so it shows the audience, where they have gone, from uni.



This advertisement, is pretty simular to that campaign, that i would like to create and make, where they interview people who have completed their open uni courses and people that are currently in the process of their courses.


Sega: Sonic the Hedgehog- Animation:



This animation is good, and is done by drawings all strung together, to make an animatic. It includes sound effects and a background music. However, i want to make mine more cartoonish, and use vector drawings that i would create.



This is a good piece, where it is produced by a flip book, and as the pages flick through, the movie unrevealed. All is drawings and no cartoon look to it.



This is similar to an animation that i would like to create. I would have Sonic dancing to a song, and also include a birthday cake in there, as the whole point of the brief, is to celebrate his 20th Anniversary.
